U.S. Senator Chris Murphy: Trump misled public on Iran nuclear strike

Senator Chris Murphy said U.S. strikes only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by months, not destroyed it.

AhlulBayt News Agency: U.S. Senator Chris Murphy stated after a closed-door Senate briefing that President Donald Trump’s claim of having destroyed Iran’s nuclear program is inaccurate.

Murphy explained that the strikes may have only delayed Iran’s nuclear progress by a few months, adding, “You cannot destroy knowledge with bombs.”

Senator Mark Warner also criticized the Trump administration’s assessment, calling it premature and lacking in evidence.

As time passes, skepticism continues to grow regarding the administration’s claims about the June 22 airstrikes and their impact on Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

CNN and The New York Times previously cited a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) report indicating that Iran’s core nuclear infrastructure remained largely intact, and the strikes only caused temporary setbacks.

Following the report’s release, Trump administration officials reacted angrily, denouncing the media coverage.

Additional reports suggest that the GBU-57 bunker-buster bombs failed to destroy Iran’s underground nuclear facilities in Fordow, casting further doubt on the White House’s assertions.
